The Department of Health contracts 17 training providers throughout Australia to deliver the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program and the Overseas Trained Doctor National Education and Training (OTDNET) program. The Department of Health are responsible for overseeing these contracts and any national activities relating to these programs such as the AGPT National Assessment Centers.

The Going Places Network is a peer to peer network that allows junior doctors to explore the world of general practice while they complete their hospital training.


General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) provides free support and advice to it members


The Medical Board of Australia registers medical practitioners and medical students. They are supported by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
